Divus Augustus, died AD 14. Dupondius (Orichalcum, 27 mm, 9.92 g, 7 h), a contemporary imitation of an issue struck under Gaius (Caligula), irregular mint, after 37. DIVVS•AVGVSTVS / S - C Radiate head of Divus Augustus to left. Rev. CONSENSV [SENAT•ET•EQ•ORDIN•P•Q•R•] Augustus (?), togate, seated left on curule chair, holding olive branch in his right hand and globe in his left; in upper field, countermark TI AV within rectangular incuse. Cf. BMC 88, Cohen 87, RIC 56 (for prototype). For countermark, Grünwald, Vindonissa, 114. Good fine.
